Before this activity, I actually didn’t know my partner at all.

Obviously now I know her much more compared to before. I’d say I know her pretty well in terms of dealing with the pandemic, home life, hobbies, and stuff she likes. It is not like suddenly best friends, but it nice to meet someone new and then be able to find common interests to be able to talk about.

Doing this one partner thing was actually a really good way of getting to now someone and make new connections during this pandemic.

I honestly don’t really know of another way besides just reaching out over social media and just putting in the effort to try, be more active in zoom classes, and communicate with people.

Me and my partner just communicated over Instagram. I think it worked well because not only were we able to message back a forth, but we could look at existing posts and pictures and stories to get to know each other a little bit better from that and see how we live. Besides Instagram, simple texting could work too, or TikTok because again there is private messaging aspect, but you can still see profiles if we post or simple send each other videos to see what we like or what we think is funny and interesting.

Padlet worked fine. I’d never used it before, but it was pretty easy to use. I think it communicates well, because for me, I like that I was able to basically make a huge collage. But I don’t know of any other real social platforms. Maybe Pinterest, where you can make a Board for your partner, and just pin a bunch of pictures and things that have to do with them and what you’ve talked about.

In terms of trying to make professional connections, I’d try to reach out to the people with my major, or some sort of similar major or field that I think can help me in the future. I’d join business group chats, or I think facebook has group stuff, so maybe there. But in terms of people at school, just over social media try to talk to people who I think I can work with and benefit and learn from professionally.
